Vltava River Map – put-in points, camps, weirs and routes

Interactive map for quick orientation on the Vltava River. You will find put-in and take-out points, riverside camps, refreshment stops and weirs between Vyšší Brod, Branná, Rožmberk, Český Krumlov, Zlatá Koruna and Boršov.

How to choose the right Vltava route

Most paddlers set off from Vyšší Brod or Rožmberk and continue through Branná, Všeměry and the Český Krumlov area to Zlatá Koruna or all the way to Boršov. Shorter sections are well suited to families and beginners, while longer routes are ideal for groups planning to spend the whole day on the river.

The map below shows the actual put-in and take-out points served by Vydra Boat Rental. The descriptions include approximate paddling times towards Český Krumlov or from the Nové Spolí base, making it easier to choose the right shuttle or pick-up option.

What current water levels mean for paddlersa quick guide before departure

Flow alone does not tell the full story. For a comfortable trip on the Vltava, always consider current water level and discharge together with river traffic, waiting times at weirs and the experience of your crew. Treat the values below as a practical guide before setting off.

Which stations to watchVyšší Brod, Zátoň, Spolí and Teplá Vltava

For the upper Vltava and the sections towards Český Krumlov, the most useful stations are Vyšší Brod, Zátoň and Spolí. Teplá Vltava in Lenora works differently – rafting there follows specific NP Šumava rules, with permission based mainly on water level and the allowed day.

Teplá Vltava – NP Šumava rulesallowed days, 50 cm threshold and boat limits
  • The key threshold for rafting permission is 50 cm, based on the water level measured at 5:50 a.m.
  • 50–60.9 cm means limited access – maximum 7 boats.
  • 61 cm or more means extended access – maximum 20 boats.
  • In May rafting is allowed only on weekends and public holidays; from June to October it is allowed daily.
What affects your trip more than flow alonepractical factors on the river
  • Waiting at weirs – in peak season this often adds more time than the current itself.
  • Number of stops – swimming breaks and refreshments can easily add dozens of minutes.
  • Crew experience – families with children and beginners naturally travel at a slower pace.
  • Weather and river traffic – wind, rain and congestion can affect both comfort and travel time.
